The aim of this project is to examine how the value of art can be defined through documentation, exclusivity, and ownership, by fabricating a realistic fiction. Our team created Ice Bait, an ice artist based in Los Angeles, who installs large, signature ice cubes with unique orange figurines inside them, while maintaining her secret identity. Through social media presence (@ice.bait on Instagram) and posting pictures of the installations and the artist’s workshop, our goal is to tell her story through pure imagery. In this context, we examine art not as an exercise in skill, but in manipulating scarcity, maintaining a certain image toward the public, and establishing recognition through things being rare.
