Since 1997, the city of Pyrgos experiences a cultural outburst through the Olympia Film Festival every December. This project aims at permanentizing the effects the Festival has on the city, while accomodating all spatial needs for media education. The design emerged as a combination of contextual & algorithmic parameters, and experiential knowledge of the Festival’s mechanisms.

The impact of the Diploma Thesis has been immense on the local community. Its research basis and final proposal have been used as leverage for the institutionalization of the Festival by the Greek Parliament. As a result, in early 2018, the funding for actually erecting a media literacy center was approved by the Government and the Region of Western Greece.
